Can My PC Run GTA 6? Everything We Know

GTA 6 is the most anticipated game of the decade. While Rockstar has confirmed a console release for November 19, 2026 (PS5 and Xbox Series X

S), a PC release date hasn't been announced yet. Based on Rockstar's history with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, the PC version will likely arrive 6-12 months after the console launch, potentially in mid-to-late 2027.

Note: All PC system requirements below are predictions based on analysis of the RAGE engine, console hardware, trailer footage, and comparison with Red Dead Redemption 2 requirements. Official requirements will be announced by Rockstar closer to the PC launch.

Storage200 GB NVMe Gen4 SSD

Why These Predictions?

The RAGE Engine

GTA 6 uses an upgraded version of Rockstar's proprietary RAGE engine. Based on GTA V and RDR2's progression:
  • GTA V (2013/2015): Required GTX 660 minimum, GTX 770 recommended
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 (2019): Required GTX 770 minimum, GTX 1060 recommended
  • GTA 6 (2026/2027): Following the trend, expect ~3 generation jump

Console Hardware as Baseline

The PS5 has roughly GTX 2070-equivalent GPU power. Since GTA 6 is being developed primarily for consoles, the minimum PC spec will target similar performance — placing the GTX 1660 as a reasonable minimum.

Storage Requirements

GTA 6's open world in the fictional state of Leonida (based on Miami/Florida) is reported to be the largest Rockstar has ever made. Combined with high-res textures and audio, 150GB+ is expected. An SSD will almost certainly be required, not just recommended.
